Wow, I just realized how BRIGHT my background is on my blog! I am not sure if it will make you smile or cringe, but it makes me feel cheery. This makes me wonder about how my perspective affects my home. The attitude I choose to wear that day affects school, chores, and everyone else’s attitudes.
I spend so many of my days trying to measure up, to meet expectations, when what I really need to do is rest in the fact that I am who God made me to be, and his grace covers all my shortcomings.
On the days that I am trying to measure up, I always feel like I am failing. I just cannot do it. When I feel like I am failing, it carries over to all of my mom, wife, friend responsibilities. Sadly I get stuck in this rut more than I should.
Then on the days that I realize how special it is that God would spread His grace and love over me, I cannot help feeling like my life could not get any better. I am truly so blessed to have a God that loves and cares for me, and in that light in that perspective nothing else really matters.
The Message puts Ephesians 3:14-21 like this:
My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spiritnot a brute strength but a glorious inner strengththat Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, youll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christs love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.
20-21God can do anything, you knowfar more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
When we allow ourselves to experience this love from our God, we are free to share it to those around us as well. It definitely affects my perspective and how I handle my job as a mom, teacher, wife, friend.
